The results of the 2009 Kansas State Assessments earned USD 505 Chetopa - St. Paul twenty-six Standard of Excellence distinctions and garnered a coveted Challenge Award for St. Paul Middle School. The Standards of Excellence are set by the state and are measured by the percentage of students scoring in each of the five categories (academic warning, basic, meets standard, exceeds standard, exemplary) of the Kansas State Assessments in reading, math, science, and writing.
St. Paul Elementary School achieved Standard of Excellence in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade reading and math. SPES achieved building-wide Standard of Excellence in reading, math, and writing.
St. Paul Middle School 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students achieved Standard of Excellence in reading and math; plus, they earned building-wide Standard of Excellence in reading, math, and writing.
In addition, SPMS has been recognized with a Challenge Award in 7th grade reading. Challenge Awards are issued by the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force to recognize schools for outstanding achievement and uncommon accomplishment based on the 2009 Kansas State Assessment results and other qualifying factors including sample size, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
Chetopa High school earned the Standard of Excellence in 7th grade reading.
Chetopa Elementary School earned Standard of Excellence in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade reading and in 4th grade science. CES received the building-wide Standard of Excellence in reading, science, and writing. #
