CHETOPA: Over the winter break, Lindsey won Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Arizona National Livestock Show. She was also the Grand Champion Intermediate Showman in the Showmanship competition. Lindsey's reserve grand goat sold on Friday night, January 1st at the Auction of Champions. The results from the show can be seen at http://anls.org/results/2010/jrgoats.htm
The Arizona National Livestock Show is the largest Livestock Show in the Southwest, an annual Phoenix tradition since 1948. Premium awards paid to junior and open exhibitors at last year's Livestock Show totaled over $66,000. Exhibitors traveled from 16 states across the country, bringing nearly 2000 head of the nation's best cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and swine to enter the competition.
Lindsey would not have had this opportunity or done this well without the district's support. The Chetopa FFA Chapter has travelled the country buying livestock, meeting people, and making connections, learning every thing they can about the livestock show industry, attending show camps and workshops, and competing at shows. It takes a lot of work to win at this level and the entire Chetopa FFA Team appreciates the opportunities given to them through this program. This is not only a big accomplishment for Lindsey but also it is a big one for the CHS FFA Chapter, Chetopa High School, and the city of Chetopa. This is the result of continued support from the district and the rest of the school staff and the town. Thank you! --Jim Nave, CHS FFA Advisor
